Reduced inequalities

Social cohesion is necessary for society to function properly. Everyone should have equal opportunities to be part of society.

Ensuring equal opportunities and eliminating inequalities

Achmea has an Ethical Framework for data-driven decision-making. This prevents discrimination, exclusion and unfair treatment of our customers.

We do not invest in companies or countries that systematically violate international human rights. Based on our standards, we exclude 11 companies from our investments. In addition, we exclude 56 countries and, as a result, 490 state-owned enterprises.

We held dialogue with 33 investee companies on the issue of human rights.

We allocated 0.5% of our net profit to the Achmea Foundation. This supports projects in the Netherlands and Africa that aim to reduce inequalities. In 2024, this amounted to over €4 million.

Social inclusion Promoting

We created 44 jobs within our organization for people with a distance to the labor market. 12% of our employees have a non-Western background. Achmea offers a diversity day for all employees and provides a quiet and prayer room at every location. Women make up 35% of our top management. Our employees rated us 7.8 out of 10 on social inclusion.

Policies promoting social equality

Achmea is committed to helping customers who find it difficult or impossible to pay their bills. We do this by actively helping them find a solution to their problems.

We gave 31 guest lectures on finance in primary schools. In doing so, we reached about 1,500 children. In addition, 100 committed colleagues volunteer as guest lecturers our mentors through LEF and JINC.

Since 2009, we have been a sponsor of the Reading and Writing Foundation. In addition, we aim to write all our communications in plain language, using B1 language level.
